An Oasis Dream Come True

I’ve never really had my own backyard but, a few years ago, this vision of a funky little oasis just wouldn’t quit.

I’m so proud of the oasis I’ve created, to serve as a refuge for me, my airbnb guests, and of course, all the beautiful butterflies.

Here I’ll share highlights from the journey, challenges we navigated, and links to the goodies I discovered along the way.

If you’re building your own oasis, airbnb guest house, or just love to get lost in pretty pictures, this is the spot for you.

Key features:

  • We always knew we wanted a sauna. After many months of research and electrical decisions, we found this perfect little cedar barrel.

  • We found this interesting pergola and created a little outdoor dining area. You can open the top to let in sunlight when you’re in the mood for that as well.

  • We created this firepit using stones from around the property (there was once a pond back here!). Looking up at the stars with a s’mores in hand is always a top happiness moment for me on vacations.

  • At some point, I’ll do an entire post on our Cowboy Pool. We were buying at exactly the right time when they released the heater/cooler combination. Star gazing during cold winter nights at 100 degrees, or looking up at the Live Oak trees on a hot summer day. Best of both worlds, and guests really love this amenity.
